Due to its fibrous nature, asbestos has a very high risk of spreading through the air as microscopic dust-like particles. Because of this, all work with asbestos must be performed in carefully controlled environments, and work sites are cleaned thoroughly before they can be considered ‘safe’ for re-occupancy. This work requires the use of sophisticated equipment - vacuums and negative pressure units - to effectively contain the hazardous particles. Personnel working within the clean room are trained and certified and have Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure their safety.

This equipment must all be maintained and serviced at regular intervals to ensure it is still operating at a suitable efficiency.
